What I’ve Learned About Healing After Big Life Changes

When my husband passed away unexpectedly, my life changed in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I was leading teams, making decisions, and carrying responsibilities that left little room for my own emotions. Grief made it impossible to continue in the same way, and I realised I needed to rebuild my life from the inside out.

The shift didn’t happen overnight. It came through small, consistent actions: walking more, setting simple goals, changing my work environment, and reconnecting with people and practices that grounded me. Moving into social work brought me back to a more human, active, and meaningful rhythm. Over time, I returned to my spiritual foundations, including Reiki, which helped me access emotions I had pushed aside for years.

This journey taught me something important: healing doesn’t ask for perfection, it asks for presence.

When life changes break us open, they also reveal the path we were meant to nurture all along.

If you’re navigating a big life change, start small. One step, one breath, one honest moment at a time. Your direction matters more than your speed.
