5 Myths About Reiki

There are many misunderstandings about Reiki and spiritual coaching, so let’s clear a few of them with calm, simple truth.
1. “Reiki is a type of massage.”
Reiki is not massage. You can receive Reiki during a massage, but the practice itself is energetic, not physical.
2. “You need to undress for Reiki.”
You stay fully clothed. Energy flows through everything — fabric, blankets, even distance.
3. “Reiki only works if the practitioner touches you.”
Touch is optional. Some practitioners place hands gently on the body (with permission), others work just above it. The intention is to support areas where energy feels low or blocked.
4. “Reiki only works in person.”
Distance Reiki exists. Energy isn’t limited by space, so you don’t need to be in the same room — or even the same country. What matters is the connection between giver and receiver.
5. “Reiki replaces medical treatment.”
Reiki is a complementary practice, not a substitute for medical care. It supports the body’s natural healing processes and can be used alongside conventional treatment, but it does not replace it.
Reiki is gentle, supportive, and deeply human — not mysterious, not dramatic, simply another way to help the mind and body find balance.
