Opening Your Eyes to What’s Already Here

Be more conscious about what you allow into your mind.

We live in a world overflowing with information — most of it loud, urgent, and designed to trigger anxiety, stress, or fear.

And without realising it, we become more open to the things that disturb us than to the things that nourish us.

I meet more and more people who refuse to read the news.

I’m one of them.

For years, I felt alone in this choice.

People criticised me for being “negligent,” as if not consuming every headline meant I didn’t care.

But it wasn’t negligence.

It was protection.

A conscious decision not to worry about things I cannot change.

And believe me — you cannot live in this world without knowing what’s happening.

Important information always finds its way to you.

But your everyday wellbeing is far better without soaking yourself in constant shock.

Still, this post isn’t about what not to do.

It’s about what to do.

So…

How do you open your eyes to happiness?

It starts with awareness.

With noticing.

With lifting your gaze from your phone and actually looking at the world around you.

Enjoy the sunshine playing through the leaves.

Watch a mother and her child chatting happily.

Appreciate a young man giving his seat to an elderly person.

Notice the gorgeous old door you’ve walked past a hundred times.

Feel the shade of a beautiful tree.

Admire the colour of a stranger’s hair.

Receive the kindness of a shopkeeper.

Watch the storm from inside your warm home with a cup of tea in your hands.

See the beauty in an elderly, wrinkled face.

Happiness is everywhere.

Beauty is everywhere.

Life is offering you small miracles all day long.

You just need to open your eyes.

Start today.

When you go home, look for one thing — just one — that puts a smile on your face.

Let that be your beginning.
